Lawrence Katunga is a Malawian with a robust academic and practical background in governance, regional integration, and interdisciplinary African studies. He holds an Erasmus Mundus MA in European Interdisciplinary African Studies, a prestigious European Union Scholarship program jointly offered by the University of Bayreuth (Germany), the University of Bordeaux-Montaigne (France), and the University of Porto (Portugal). Additionally, he earned a Master’s in Governance and Regional Integration from the Pan African University (Cameroon) under the African Union Scholarship program, and a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities from the University of Malawi.

As a highly motivated governance and regional integration specialist, Lawrence brings over six years of multifaceted experience in international trade, shipping and logistics, communication, youth leadership as well as the management and evaluation of development cooperation projects. His areas of expertise include political governance, global development, public policy analysis, and political risk assessment. He is particularly passionate about promoting good governance, human rights, conflict resolution, and the principles of effective organizational management.

Lawrence is also committed to adapting to the evolving security landscape with the increased cases of cyber threats by integrating digital solutions into security policy frameworks. His recent cybersecurity training by the Cybersecurity Institute (South Africa) and Cyber Policy and Cyber Law by the University of Tartu (Estonia) have honed his focus on cyber-risk management and governance, embedding digital security measures into governance and policymaking processes, ensuring a forward-thinking approach to sustainable development and security.
